Residential Steel Beam and Column Load/Span Tables

Residential Steel Beam Column Load and Span Tables 6.2 MB /PDF

June 1993

Residential Steel Beam and Column Load/Span Tables This document provides residential steel beam and column load/span tables for designers and contractors who are designing low-rise residential buildings that use steel structural members. These load/span tables include beam and column sections commonly used in residential construction. They are based on information contained in the American Institute of Steel Construction Allowable Stress Design, Specification and Manual (1989) and contain beams and columns supporting floor system spans or tributary widths ranging from 6 to 24 feet (in two feet increments).

This document includes tables for maximum span for center beams and columns supporting one floor, two floors and three floors. Four examples illustrate various steel beam and column designs.
